LINDA HEDLUND, violin

Linda Hedlund works as a university assistant at the Sibelius-Academy, and is making her studies at the Sibelius-Academy department of Musical Performance and Research for Doctor of Music degree. She has studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Music University in Berlin Germany (Hochschule der Künste in Berlin), and she graduated as a Master of Arts from the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien).

Among her busy international carreer as a concert violinist, Linda is a concertmaster in the Austrian Chamber Orchestra. She is also one of the founders and a leader of Wien-Helsinki Ensemble. As a concertmaster Linda has also appeared at the Pacific Music Festival Japan (1999), with Tapiola Sinfonietta (2004) and with Sinfonia da Camera Finlandia.

In 2006 Linda founded the Emäsalo Music Festival taking place each summer in Finland. In June 2008 the Finnish label Fuga released a CD with the sonatas by Franck, Saint-Saëns and Debussy performed by Linda Hedlund together with Oliver Kern.
